At the present the CONAVI company is not working the roads of Monteverde, then all these ways in to this beautiful are are open at all. There are not located the best rods of Costa Rica, but there is one in particular that we recommend to take, by Sardinal. This way has been worked for more than one year, not paved at the moment, but it will happen soon. 4WD is not necessary to visit the majestic beauty of this peace of land of Costa Rica.

Our government is trying to improve the costa rican gravel streets, for example the road from Candelaria until San Rafael. This one is one of the three ways to get to Monteverde area. CONAVI is working on it to pave it and make it a faster and safer way to drive. That's why is closed, but there is a different way to get to Candelaria and then continue to Las Juntas or vice versa--that one is the way that goes to Tilarán (Cañitas-Turín-Cabeceras-El Dos-Candelaria).

This change of schedule will be to protect the people who are driving by this thin roads, due to the rocks that are falling down by the hills. At the same time will give more time to work with no breaks and that way to finish it faster.

The event has been held twice in the Dominical area (2008 and 2009) and in December 2012 was held for the third year in the Monteverde area . An added attraction is the step by colgandes bridges "Selvatura Park", giving an added value in the route to go over the treetops , a fact that makes the event unique in the world. Caution is advised.  At this time the route from Guacimal to Monteverde, is under remodeling. They began placing culverts, to after that start paving the 18km missing that is not. This work will take a couple years to be finished at all--so it is recommended caution to drivers.
